Steam locomotive type Tr6 is a steam locomotive of Prussian origin, known as type G8², series designation DRG 5620-29. Locomotives of this type were built in the period 1919-1926. Production was located in factories; Henschel & Sohn (Cassel), A. Jung (Jungenthal), Linke Hofmann (Breslau), F, Krupp (Essen) and AEG (Berlin). The locomotive is similar to type G8³, which in Poland was designated as series Tr3. Both designs were closely related to the Prussian steam locomotive G12, also known in PKP, under the designation series Ty1.

After 1945, the PKP company took over 52 units, which were designated the Tr6 series. They were grouped in DOKP Wrocław, where they served until the early 1970s. The locomotives were assigned to the following locomotive depots: Kamieniec Ząbkowicki, Miłkowice, Jelenia Góra, Węgliniec and Kłodzko.

The museum locomotive Tr6-39, designated DRG 56 2795, ended its work in Węgliniec. It was removed from the register on 19 January 1972. On 2 November 1983, the locomotive was transferred to the museum. In 1995, the locomotive was renovated to museum condition, including the addition of missing components. In April 2022, the locomotive was renovated to museum condition, mainly painting.
