Luboń is a city in the Wielkopolska Province, located on the Warta River, bordering Poznań to the north. It covers an area of ​​13.5 km2 and has over 30,000 inhabitants, making it one of the most densely populated cities in Poland.

The city has a history dating back to the Middle Ages, when it was a wealthy village of Bamberg settlers. Later, the city became an important industrial center. Luboń is well connected to Poznań and the surrounding towns. The city is crossed by DW No. 430, connecting Poznań – Mosina. In addition, Luboń has a railway station Luboń near Poznań, located on the Wrocław – Poznań railway route, which allows easy access to rail connections. The city also offers tourist attractions, such as the Luboń Industrial Architecture Trail, which leads through historical buildings related to industry.

The Luboń Railway Station near Poznań, located at Dworcowa Street 1 in Luboń, is an important transport hub on the Wrocław–Poznań railway line. The history of the station dates back to 1856, when the Poznań–Wrocław railway line was launched. The first train arrived at the station on October 29, 1856.

The station was initially called Żabikowo, referring to the nearby village. In 1905, the name was changed to Luban, and in 1919, to Lubań. On June 5, 1925, the name Luboń was introduced, and in 1947, Luboń near Poznań was added.

The station was built in 1856 and is still in operation. The building is two-storey with an extension of the signal box. The building is built of red brick and is not plastered. The building is covered with a simple gable roof. Currently, the building is accessible to passengers from 06:00 to 17:00. Inside, there is a ticket office and a waiting room.

The electrification of the Luboń station near Poznań took place on December 20, 1969, when the section of Railway Line No. 271 Leszno – Poznań was electrified.

From the very beginning, the station has served passenger and freight traffic and it has done so to this day. Currently, there are two platforms and three platform edges at the station. Both platforms are 207 m long and are adapted to serve trains of PolRegio and Koleje Wielkopolskie carriers. Both platforms have 60 m long shelters, which are historic. Access to Platform 2 is provided by a tunnel. After the last renovation, additional lifts were installed.

In the station area, in the southern head of the station, a tunnel was built under the tracks for residents in the extension of Fabryczna Street, which allows access to Armii Poznań Street.

Near the station, to the north, the Freedom Motorway No. A2, S5, S11 runs through a tunnel under the tracks.

The station is controlled from the Poznań II Local Control Center at the Poznań Główny station and equipped with Ebilock 950 computerized traffic control devices.

Currently (2025) the station serves up to 900 passengers per day. In March 2025, 114 passenger trains departed from the station per day. It was possible to reach the following stations: Czempiń, Gniezno, Gołańcz, Grodzisk Wielkopolski, Koło, Konin, Kościan, Leszno, Powodowo, Poznań Główny, Rawicz, Stęszew, Szamotuły, Szklarska Poręba Górna, Wągrowiec, Wolsztyn, Wrocław Główny.
