Diesel Locomotive SM25-002.

The SM25-002 diesel locomotive was manufactured in 1962 at the Fablok company in Chrzanów. The locomotive received the factory number Ls350-5427-1962. On December 7, 1962, it was accepted for service at MD Kraków. Since 1971, it was subordinate to MD Kraków Płaszów. In 1972, it underwent a revision repair at ZNTK Poznań. In 1973, it was transferred to industrial railways; SFA Autosan Sanok, where it worked until 1975, and was crossed out of the state. In 1980, it was transferred to the Railway Museum in Warsaw. Currently, since 2016, the Museum Station. In 2020, it was renovated to a museum condition, by Techservice Łódź. The original green painting with yellow stripes was restored.
The Central Design Office of the Rolling Stock Industry in Poznań in the period 1959-1960 developed documentation for a type 9D diesel shunting locomotive. The project envisaged the use of a four-stroke diesel engine of Polish production, with direct fuel injection, type Wola 1DVSa/31. The engine was equipped with cooling with an automatic control system, the Voith Heidenheim system and an imported J.M.Voith AG, St. Pölten type gearbox, consisting of two pneumatically controlled converters. The locomotive used a group drive on three axles, using trusses coupled to a blind shaft, the BM/ST/2 type gearbox of which was also an element obtained from import; Voith.
In the period 1961-1963, Fablok delivered three prototype units to PKP, designated as SM25 series and inventory numbers 001-003. The new locomotives were to be an alternative to the SM30 series diesel shunting locomotive with electric transmission, built entirely in Poland. The trial operation period demonstrated a number of advantages of the locomotive. The SM25-002 unit ended its service in the Kraków Płaszów locomotive shed and was removed from the PKP inventory on 1 November 1973. The unit was offered to the Sanok Bus Factory, where it worked until 1975. The locomotive was formally transferred to the Railway Museum on 24 September 1980.
No more SM25 units were built, because the SM30 diesel locomotive with electric transmission proved to be better. In addition, it had fewer imported components.
The SM25-002 locomotive has a C-axle layout. A hydraulic transmission is used. The wheel diameter is 1.10 m. Fuel capacity is 1,100 liters. Service weight is 37,400 kg. Length with buffers is 8.64 m. Width is 3.15 m. Height is 4.14 m. Linear speed is 60 km/h. Shunting speed is 30 km/h.
